Recently, Patrick blogged about how certain songs bring back memories, and it's so true. Everytime I'm on the mini bus or MTR, I always listen to my iPod. Today, I was listening to it on shuffle, and "Burning up" (FOR YOU BABYYYYYY) came up. It instantly brought me back to Gr. 9 when we played soccer barefoot. The sun was shining and the fear of stepping on a nail and needing a tetanus shot was overcome by the love of running without shoes and feeling of grass between our toes. "Fearless" by Jay Chou brings me back to OCAC and all the ridiculously good times. My class sang it for the karaoke contest (I know, you couldn't get any more asian than that), and I played a hella convincing thug. "Baby" or "Canada's National Athem" as Felicia puts it, reminds me of lunch hours spent in the dark "recording studio" in the music room. (The quotation marks are there, because we spent all our time in there squinting at lyrics lit by a flashlight.) I'm glad I have a piece of home that I can fit in my purse.

Happiness Meme, Day 19
I didn't really know what to expect when I went to church today. The other times that I've visited Hong Kong, I always went to a Chinese one with my parent's friends, but this time, I went to one I've never gone to before (that's in English, thank goodness) that was recommended to me by a few people. Even though church is a bit different here (by different, I mean that they need TVs everywhere because there's SO many people that you can't even see the front), it reminded me of church at home. My heart swelled when they sang familiar worship songs, and the pastor was funny in a lame sort of way. The sermon was about how God has designed us for a certain task, and that His will for us will bring us true freedom. The pastor talked about my favourite Psalm too (Psalms 121), which was a reminder that I should stop worrying so much. The whole thing was reassuring.
