I may hate Christmas carols with a passion, but don't get me wrong. I still love getting into the Christmas spirit.
And it's true that the whole idea of "the holidays" and that feel-good festive cheer is romanticized. There's a bit of a fake aspect to the roaring fireplace, the falling snow, the red and green, the glowing lights and the mistletoe.
But I'd still rather go with it, as opposed to not enjoying it at all.
