1231

For Jill, because I think the way her brain works is beautiful:

I know a girl who speaks in numbers. She will never write you a love song, but she can tell you what her heart rate was the moment you met her, the number of freckles on your cheeks, and that the probability of you making her smile is equal to 1. She will never dot her i's with hearts, but she will spend an entire day finding the perfect math symbols to write your \aleph \!\,\propto \!\,\and \!\,\and \!\,\in \!\,. She can isolate x in any equation, but she doesn't need to in order to tell you that your value is way bigger than 0.
When she cries, she secretly counts the number of tears in the back of her head. She can measure her hurt in kilograms, and she charts her pain on x-y axises of sadness and disappointment. And when she forgives you, she can tell you exactly how much weight is being lifted off her shoulders. She can put a measurement on guilt and then tell you that you don't need it.
See, this is a girl who you can trust when she says "forever," because she understands the meaning of the number "infinite." This is a girl who will take the time to find the centre of a circle, because she knows that it is worthwhile to meet you in the middle. This is a girl who spends her nights trying to graph how much she loves someone, but gives up because her pen keeps running off the page. The words "nothing" and "never" don't mean what you think, because she can read between the letters and see an endless amount of decimals.
I know a girl who speaks in numbers, and I don't know much about math, but I can tell you that you don't need a ruler to tell that her heart grows at an exponential rate.
