Happiness Meme, Day 36
Everyday that I have to go to class, I pass by a Beard Papa's. It used to be one of those things you could only get in Asia (for me, it was only in Hong Kong because it was the only place in Asia that I ever went) but, like almost everything else, has gotten internationalized. Right now, there are 9 locations in Vancouver, even more in the States and the company's starting to branch out into Europe. When the first one opened in Aberdeen Centre, my mom would always bring them home whenever she was in Richmond, but it would never taste the same as it did in my childhood memories. It was good, but it didn't deserve words like delectable, mouthwatering or ambrosial.* I always assumed it was one of those things that you remember so vividly as tasting extremely scrumptious as a kid, but when you have it again later on in life, it doesn't even remotely live up to your expectations. It could've also be one of those things that you find so special when you're travelling, but as soon as it's within reach, it doesn't seem so great anymore (like when I found out I can buy Hi-Chew at T&T, and like the time I brought back Fritt in bulk from Europe only to find out that I can get it at some convenience store downtown). Regardless, today as I was walking by, I couldn't resist the sweet smell and was suddenly in dire need for a green tea cream puff. As I was biting into the creamy goodness, I came to realize that even though this isn't the only place you can get Beard Papa's anymore, this is the only place a cream puff can taste so delicious.
