I thought today was gonna be really chill, but it wasn't exactly what I thought it would be. We took the whole day off to plan out the year for student council and do some leadership training sort of stuff. I think that everyone knows their own and other's weaknesses and strengths to some extent, but it's different when you actually point them out and lay them on the table. I know that Abby and I have the potential to be great leaders (At least I hope so, or else why the heck are we Pres and Vice Pres?!), but I can see that a possible fault in our teamwork is that we think the same way and agree on a lot of things. That's why I'm glad to have so many dynamics in our exec, so we can catch things that others miss. Everyone brings something different, and that could either turn out brilliantly or horribly. But despite that, when we started to talk about things to hype up school spirit and how our year's going to pan out, I got super excited* at how everyone was so passionate about it and how ideas kept springing up from everywhere.
Anyways, backtracking to the strengths and weaknesses thing, when we started doing self-evaluations**, a few things came up for different people. For me, it was my problem with not being able to disagree vocally with others, which goes hand-in-hand with my inability to say, "No," when I'm asked to do things. It's something that's a challenge for me, and I need to learn how to deal with that this year. Also, I am happy to admit that one of my traits is that I'm naturally more of a listener when it comes to group discussions, but that also means that I don't really give as much input. That's not something that I feel like I need to completely change, but just to keep in mind of, as well as other people's qualities. Luckily, we have enough talkers in our group, but there will come times when I need to step up.
I used today to set some goals for myself for this year, like trying to get more people involved. I know I can be outgoing when I want to be, so I want to use that make people, especially the kids in the younger grades, feel welcomed to join us. And also putting in the effort to deeply care about the people I'm working with. It really means a lot when a person knows how to follow-up with work that's delegated and look out for who the work's being given to.
With that being said... I'm SOOOOOOOOOO stoked for this year!

*Granted, I was physically drained and couldn't exactly show my excitement through the whole meeting, but I really was.
**I'm making student council sound SUPER fun right now.
